MOTÖRHEAD's MIKKEY DEE In Swedish Eurodance Shocker!

December 18, 2002

MOTÖRHEAD drummer Mikkey Dee is set to join Swedish eurodance star E-TYPE on tour in January and February, Swedish newspaper GT has reported. E-TYPE has been one of the country's most successful artists over the past decade, with record sales in the million range. E-TYPE (real name Martin Eriksson) himself was a metal drummer in the Eighties, playing with the thrash/power metal combo HEXENHAUS. Now he has decided to return to his roots by turning his eurodance songs into thundering heavy metal numbers and performing them live. Enter Mikkey Dee.

"It will be a hard rock tour, that's why I'm involved," Dee told GT. "Awhile back, I flew up from Geneva for a test rehearsal to see if it would work out. Had it been eurodance, it wouldn't have interested me."

Mikkey Dee and E-TYPE are good friends and first discussed the collaboration this past summer. The club tour is believed to include Swedish dates only.

"Maybe I've taken on more than I can handle with this thing, because these months are my only time off before MOTÖRHEAD get back in business. But it'll probably work out fine — at least I have weekdays off."

According to Dee, the idea of turning E-TYPE's music into metal isn't that far-fetched.

"Several of his musicians are hard rockers and the actual shows are heavy and powerful with lots of pyrotechnics."
